About the Quartermain Earth Science Centre
Mission
The Quartermain Earth Science Centre inspires the exploration of Earth, Environmental and Space Science and natural history in our region and beyond. The QESC serves as a portal to learning and collaboration, connecting university and community building strong partnerships. We are devoted to advance geopreservation of museum collections and specimens that instills stewardship and sustainability. We strive to be an active participant in engaging youth in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). The QESC is building an environment where people of all ages and demographics are inspired by geoscience. We aspire to provide a stimulating and transformative experience for visitors as they grow into adulthood. We are devoted to the advancement of Earth Science literacy and life-long learning.
The Quartermain Earth Science Centre is committed to being a diverse, equitable and inclusive community that engages in the active process of anti-racism and anti-discrimination work, internally and externally through our partnerships and in the programs we offer.
The Quartermain Earth Science Centre is located within the Earth Science Department in the Forestry & Geology building at the University of New Brunswick, Fredericton, NB. The museum offers interactive tours, educational activities and public events. Since its doors opened in June 2011, the public has been invited to celebrate geological discoveries in the Maritimes, across Canada, around the world and beyond. Building on UNB’s 180 years of geological education, the Quartermain Centre has had an impact on how we can think about our planet and the many fields within the Earth Sciences.
