EdGeo Teacher Workshops
Since 2014, the Quartermain Earth Science Centre (QESC) has proudly hosted 1 to 3 EdGEO Teacher Workshops annually. These nationally supported workshops are designed to enhance Earth science education by providing Canadian teachers with hands-on learning experiences, curriculum-linked resources, and increased confidence to teach geoscience topics.
Developed collaboratively by geoscientists and educators, each workshop may include inquiry-based classroom activities, field skills training, and a comprehensive resource kit—often featuring learning activities, maps, minerals, rocks, fossils, ID kits, and other valuable teaching tools. Supported by the EdGEO program, grants of up to $3,000 per workshop are available to help offset costs.
Registration fees typically range from $10 to $40 per person. These workshops are part of a broader initiative led by the Canadian Geoscience Education Network (CGEN), aimed at promoting Earth science education and public awareness across Canada.
